MILES DAVIS. Perhaps the greatest jazz musician of the 20th century, Miles Davis, was born to Miles and Cleota Henery Davis in 1926. At the time of the musician's birth, the family was living in Alton, Illinois, but in 1927, they relocated to East St. Louis, Missouri.
